Dr. Ophelia van de Maladie und ihre Zwillingsschwester Dr. Isebel Hasenfuss sind alleinige Nachkommen einer Ärztedynastie. 1915 gründeten sie die Black Smoke Medicine Show, die letzte ihrer Art. Mit mysteriöser Liebe zubereitet, bieten sie einer anspruchsvollen Klientel rezeptpflichtige Medizinalcocktails und Schluckimpfungen an. Mit Snake Oil, Fountain of Youth, Eau Radioactive, Pepolax oder Brunhilde’s Benzendrine Femina Pro, wird das kleine Glück für kurze Zeit Wirklichkeit!
Diese mobile und dank Publikumsbeteiligung auch partizipative Kunstintervention wurde 2014 von Corinne Odermatt und Anita Zumbühl erschaffen. Mit ihren Alter Egos als Heilfrauen und ihrem zur Medizintheke umgebauten Wohnwagen traten sie an Kunst- und Kulturfestivals auf. Zusammen mit Gästen waren die Vorstellungen extravagante Spektakel mit Konzerten, Sideshows, «wissenschaftlichen» Vorträgen und Glücksspielen.

Dr. Ophelia van de Maladie and her twin sister Dr. Isebel Hasenfuss are the sole descendants of a medical dynasty. In 1915, they founded the Black Smoke Medicine Show, the last of its kind. Prepared with mysterious love, they offer prescription medicinal cocktails and oral vaccinations to a discerning clientele. With Snake Oil, Fountain of Youth, Eau Radioactive, Pepolax or Brunhilde's Benzendrine Femina Pro, the little happiness becomes reality for a short time!
This mobile and, thanks to audience involvement, participatory art intervention was created in 2014 by Corinne Odermatt and Anita Zumbühl. They appeared at art and culture festivals using alter egos as healing women and a caravan converted into a medicine counter. Together with guests, the performances were extravagant spectacles with concerts, side shows, “scientific” lectures and games of chance.
